Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza faces two years in jail after pleading guilty to a count of making campaign contributions illegally through straw donors. D'Souza reimbursed two friends who donated $10,000 each to the New York Senate campaign of Wendy Long in 2012, according to prosecutors. D'Souza's lawyer says it was "an act of misguided friendship" and that his client was targeted by the government for his "highly publicized criticism of President Obama." The author's trial was set to begin today. Now it's up to a judge to determine whether he'll do time.
