Dinosaur Blends Barney, Jar Jar Binks

Call it goofy and weird. Scientists who almost 50 years ago found bones of two large, powerful dinosaur arms in Mongolia have now discovered the rest of the prehistoric creature, and they say it lumbered along on two legs, like a cross between TV’s lovable dinosaur Barney and Star Wars’ oddball character Jar Jar Binks. The dinosaur was 16 feet tall and 36 feet long, weighed seven tons, and had a duckbill on its head and a hump-like sail on its back. Just to complete the bizarreness, the beast had killer claws, tufts of feathers here and there, no teeth, and ate like a giant vacuum cleaner. Oh, and it’s being called Deinocheirus mirificus, which seems to mean “unusual terrible hands.” The creature belongs to the ostrich dinosaurs family.
