American diplomats’ families are being evacuated from Sierra Leone as the country’s medical facilities have been overwhelmed by the Ebola outbreak, according to the State Department. “There is a lack of options for routine health-care services at major medical facilities due to the Ebola outbreak,” spokeswoman Marie Harf said in a statement. A similar move was made in Liberia last week. As of press time, 1,069 deaths due to Ebola have been reported in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, according to the World Health Organization.
