Close, but no dice. Ron Paul nearly pulled off a win against Mitt Romney in the Maine caucuses, and there was disappointment at the campaign headquarters in Maine on Saturday night. When the Romney win was announced, supporters angrily booed the news. But Paul was optimistic about his 200-vote loss: “It’s almost like we could call it a tie.” A Paul campaign news release sent out shortly after the results even said: “Ron Paul Victory in Maine!” It also stated that “we are confident we will control the Maine delegation for the convention in August.”
