A three-month investigation found Thursday that Virginia attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli didn’t break the law when he failed to disclose substantial stock holdings in Star Scientific and the fact that he had received gifts from the company’s CEO. Cuccinelli asked Richmond’s Commonwealth Attorney to review his finances after he admitted to several omissions in the spring. The attorney found that Cuccinelli’s other disclosures suggested he had not intentionally withheld news about his investments and gifts. Democrats have used the disclosure issue in Cuccinelli’s race against former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe for Virginia’s governorship.
