Disney Cancels Tech Employee Layoffs

Disney/ABC Television has canceled plans to lay off about 35 technology employees who had been asked to train immigrants brought in to do their jobs in their final weeks of employment. Managers told employees last week they would no longer have to train their replacements and could keep their jobs, Computerworld first reported. “We were told our jobs were continuing and we should consider it as if nothing had happened until further notice,” an employee told The New York Times. Disney sparked a public backlash after it laid off 250 tech workers at Orlando’s Walt Disney World in January, ordering them to train immigrants on temporary work visas in order to receive severance.
