Disney World has decided to close down Thursday evening due to the state of emergency declared for Florida in anticipation of category-4 Hurricane Matthew. This closure marks only the fourth time in history that Disney World has closed since its 1971 opening. The amusement park also closed for Hurricane Floyd in 1999 and Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in 2004. The park, located in Orlando plans to close at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday and reopen on Saturday morning. Universal Orlando will also shut down Thursday with plans to reopen for the weekend.
