Ditka Says No to Convention Invite

But he respects Trump and his ideas.

Former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka has declined to appear at the Republican convention in July, after Donald Trump’s campaign was courting him along with other stars in the sports field. Ditka reportedly had a phone conversation with Trump on Wednesday, during which the two men shared mutual respect for each other. When Trump asked Ditka to speak at the convention, the former coach responded: “I’m not big into doing things like that. I’m not going to change opinions, opinions are like assholes. I believe in the way the constitution was written. But people want to change that. Immigration. Same thing. People want to change things. I believe in you and what you are saying.”
