A doctor is in critical condition and another person is dead after a gunman barricaded himself in a room at Johns Hopkins University Hospital on Thursday. The doctor, who was shot in the stomach, is expected to survive; but the gunman killed himself and his mother. The gunman, Paul Warren Pardus, was allegedly upset about news of his mother's condition, according to Baltimore police. (The gunman was originally identified as "Warren Davis"; this is not his actual name but was how he was known around the hospital.) It was unclear what the gunman's mother was being treated for, though one hospital workers said, "Basically, he was upset about his mother being paralyzed by the doctor."
