DOJ to NC: Anti-LGBT Law Violates Civil Rights Act

The Department of Justice has informed North Carolina Gov. Pat Mcrory that House Bill 2, which places limitations on the use of bathrooms by trans individuals, violates the Civil Rights Act. The department gave state officials until Monday to determine how to respond. It specifically violates Title IX which bars discrimination in education based on sex. North Carolina could lose millions in federal school funding if they choose not to comply.
