DOJ Won’t Defend Obamacare Against Lawsuit
The lawsuit would undo the protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

The Department of Justice will not defend Obamacare against a lawsuit backed by the Trump administration and 20 states that would undo protections for people with pre-existing conditions, a DOJ official confirmed to the Daily Beast. Despite Trump’s repeated insistence that “Republicans will always protect people with pre-existing conditions,” the lawsuit claims that Obamacare’s protections for pre-existing conditions are illegal, and the White House has offered no plans to implement alternative protections.
