Penguin Press is counting on selling a lot of copies of John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s next book: The publisher just spent over $5 million for a book about the 2012 election. Heilemann and Halperin have proven they are already bestseller-list material with Game Change, which was packed with 2008 campaign gossip and has been a New York Times Bestseller for the past nine weeks, selling 356,000 hardcover copies. “This is presidential memoir-level money,” one executive familiar with the deal said.
