The Senate Intelligence Committee reportedly obtained records indicating that Donald Trump Jr.’s phone calls with private numbers ahead of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting were not with his father, then-candidate Donald Trump. According to CNN, the records indicate the calls in question were between Trump Jr. and “two of his business associates.” The calls with the blocked numbers reportedly occurred on the same day he had a phone conversation with Emin Agalarov—a Russian pop star who helped arrange the meeting between the Trump campaign and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who was said to have “dirt” on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Those calls reportedly took place three days before the Trump Tower meeting, and Trump Jr. had an additional phone call with a private number “several hours” after the Trump Tower meeting. Trump’s son reportedly told Congress in 2017 that he couldn’t recall who he was talking with that day, but told the Senate Judiciary Committee he did not tell his father about the meeting or the offer of Clinton “dirt.”
