Don Jr. Stabs Dad in the Back in Brutal Midterm Postmortem

The president’s son joined JD Vance in admitting where the GOP went wrong.

Donald Trump Jr. has weighed in on the midterms with a dig at his own dad.

Don Jr., 48, gave a full-throated endorsement of Vice President JD Vance’s surprisingly candid assessment of where the Republican Party went wrong after a humiliating defeat in the midterm elections on Tuesday.

Vance, 42, admitted in a lengthy X post that the GOP faced a stunning rebuke because it failed to address voters’ concerns about the Iran war, the cost of living, and the Trump administration’s foreign policy posture.

A provision of the deal for President Donald Trump to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS gave him and members of his family sweeping tax amnesty. “The reason we lost is the war,” Vance wrote. “The president himself said so last night.”

Barely an hour later, Don Jr. reposted the vice president’s postmortem with a brief caption.

“Every word of this is 💯💯💯,” the president’s son said.

Vance, citing a pollster he described as “one of the smartest people I know in politics,” acknowledged that many Trump 2024 voters were angry and planned to vote for Democrats.

“He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team,” the vice president wrote. “The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel.”

But Vance said the Iran war, which has sent gas prices and the cost of living soaring, is largely to blame for the GOP rout on Tuesday.

“If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so,” he said. “Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.”

“To the people who are p---ed off and want to say, ‘I told you so’: you’re right, you did tell us so,” Vance continued. “Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just p---ed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.”

Trump, meanwhile, offered his early assessment of the blue tsunami on Truth Social and in media interviews late Tuesday night.

“I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!” he wrote roughly an hour after polls closed.

“I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!” he later teased.

In an interview with Politico, Trump shifted the blame to the candidates he strongly endorsed in the lead-up to the midterms.

“They didn’t like the candidates in most cases,” he said. “Just one of those things.”
