Donna Karan announced Tuesday she is stepping down as chief designer of her namesake brand to spend more time developing her foundation. The fashion icon said she came to the decision “after much soul-searching” with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which acquired the brand in 2001. The company said it would not find a successor chief designer for the Donna Karan Collection and will halt runway shows and collections for a period of time. Donna Karan International will instead veer away from high-end fashion and focus on its mass-market DKNY label.
