Rita Jeptoo, 33, who won the Boston and Chicago marathons the past two years, tested positive for a banned substance, according to the World Marathon Majors. Jeptoo, from Kenya, tested positive on a first sample, however a second sample will have to come back positive for the international governing body, the IAAF, to announce a violation or ban. She was due to fly to New York to receive $500,000 from the World Marathon Majors, which is a series of races in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York that offer a $1 million purse split between male and female runners. That award ceremony has been postponed.
