Double Murder Suspect Ate Victim’s Face

College student may have been on drugs.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has identified the Florida man accused of murdering a married couple and biting off one of the victim’s faces as 19-year old Austin Kelly Harrouff. The Florida State University student is accused of biting the flesh of the male victim in his own driveway. A neighbor initially intervened but was allegedly stabbed by Harrouff. Sheriff William Snyder said it took deputies, a stun gun, and a canine to get him off the victim. Snyder said it appears to be an “unprovoked and random attack on two victims who were standing in their garage” on Monday evening. Officials are investigating Harrouff'’s possible use of bath salts. The neighbor who was stabbed suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital and then had emergency surgery. Harrouff was taken to another hospital, where he is receiving treatment for unknown injuries.
