Ousted American Apparel CEO Dov Charney says that he is down to his last $100,000 and is sleeping on a couch at a friend’s apartment on New York’s Lower East Side. He spoke with Bloomberg TV about his professional downfall, saying he’s eager to return to the fashion company he founded and wants American Apparel to go private. He also blamed hedge fund Standard General for helping to oust him after he took out a loan from it. Charney was fired this past summer following years of controversy, including several sexual-harassment suits, and the company completed a probe of his professional history last week. “Based on this investigation, the special committee determined that it would not be appropriate for Mr. Charney to be reinstated as CEO or an officer or employee,” the company said in a statement.
