For the first time in over a decade—and the fifth day of record gains—the Dow Jones Industrial Average passed the 18,000-point threshold. The milestone comes on the heels of strong GDP data showing significant signs of of an economic rebound and will mark the fifth-quickest 1,000-point rise in the blue-chip index’s history. The fastest, in 1999, was an 11,000-point jump within a 24-hour period.
