The U.S. stock market soared to a new five-year high Thursday, as the Dow Jones industrial average rose 175 points, decisively crashing through the 14,000 barrier. Despite threats from home (the sequester) and abroad (Italy-inspired Euro turmoil), investors seem to be convinced that U.S. economic growth is solid and companies will continue to prosper.
