The Dow Jones industrial average fell 300 points Tuesday amid growing fears of a trade war between the U.S. and China. Tuesday’s drop negated all of the Dow’s gains this year. Other market indexes also fell Tuesday, with the S&P 500 dropping 0.6 percent and the Nasdaq Composite dropping 0.8 percent. Trump announced new tariffs on Chinese products last week, slapping 25 percent duties on a host of goods. Beijing retaliated and Trump threatened even more tariffs on Chinese goods. The Trump administration has previously touted economic gains as one of the president’s greatest achievements.
