Finally, some good economic news! The Dow Jones industrial average surged 286 points today, making it the best day so far of 2012. The Dow closed at 12,415, jumping 2.4 percent and turning the index positive for the year. The boost came from the fact that Europe helped ease the debt crisis, coupled with speculation that the Federal Reserve might start another round of bond buying. Additionally, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index jumped 30 points to 1,315, and the NASDAQ composite index rose by 67 to 2,845.
