Dow Plunges 1,000 Points as Wall Street’s Bad Week Gets Worse

Volatile week on Wall Street continues as Dow closes down by more than 4 percent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down more than 1,000 points and 4 percent on Thursday, capping off another day of downward moves of a volatile market this week. By midday, the Dow plunged over 700 points and dipped 2.9 percent. The trend continued until close, when the average went below 3 percent. Any gains that were previously made in 2018 were “wiped out” this week, according to The Washington Post. Real estate and the financials led the downturn in the markets, which suggested “investor unease around interest rates and the prospect of higher inflation,” the Post reported.
