Dr. Dao Reaches ‘Amicable Settlement’ With United

For injuries sustained in infamous viral incident aboard a flight.

Dr. David Dao, the 69-year-old man who was videotaped being violently dragged off a United Airlines flight earlier this month, has reached an “amicable settlement” with the airliner, his counsel announced on Thursday. In a statement, Dao’s lawyer Thomas A. Demetrio praised the company for having “taken full responsibility” for the ordeal, including instituting new guidelines in how its employees handle the removal of passengers from overbooked flights. A condition of the settlement is that the amount remains confidential, the statement noted while going out of its way to laud United CEO Oscar Munoz for his “corporate accountability.”
