Dr. Laura Schlessinger Goes on N-Word Rant

Time to call Don Imus for advice: Dr. Laura Schlessinger got into an argument on air on Thursday with a black woman about racism—and proceeded to use the n-word six times. The caller thought her white husband’s friends were racist for using the n-word, which prompted Schlessinger to say, “Black guys use it all the time. Turn on HBO and listen to a black comic, and all you hear is n***r, n***r, n***r. I don't get it. If anybody without enough melanin says it, it's a horrible thing. But when black people say it, it's affectionate." The caller was shocked that Schlessinger used the word, which led Schlesssinger to say, “I’ll say it again: n***r, n***r, n***r is what you hear on HBO.” She also told the woman, “If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry outside of your race." On Friday, Schlessinger apologized, saying, “I was attempting to make a philosophical point.”
