Chaos hit near Cairo on Saturday as a drive-by shooting claimed the lives of four Egyptian police officers and a military helicopter crashed northeast of the city due to a “sudden technical failure.” The shooting occurred when masked gunmen opened fire at a security checkpoint near Saqqara, home to the 4,600-year-old Step Pyramid. Egypt’s military said crew members aboard the helicopter, which was on a reconnaissance mission, were hurt but did not specify how many.
