A suspected U.S. drone strike killed at least five militants in a Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Thursday, and local villagers said one of the dead is a senior Arab commander. Villagers in South Waziristan said bodies were taken to an unknown location after the attack, and that a number of "foreign guests" were staying at the targeted house after fleeing a major military offensive in the tribal region of North Waziristan. U.S. drone strikes have escalated this month, hitting targets several times this week. The Pakistan military announced the anti-Taliban offensive in June.
