Drug Czar Denounces Prop 19

Is Obama just doing what's popular, or does he actually want marijuana legalization to go up in smoke? Gil Kerlikowske, Obama's drug czar, departed from the administration's previously tepid opposition on Proposition 19, the ballot initiative in California that would legalize pot, speaking out strongly against the measure during a trip to Florida. "Legalizing drugs is not the answer to this nation's problems," Kerlikowske said. The shift in the administration’s stance mirrors polling trends in recent months—since September, the solid majority supporting the initiative has been in decline, and in most recent polls supporters trail those opposing the bill by 7 percent.
