Drugs Outrank Booze in U.S. Drivers

The amount of drunk drivers have decreased nearly one-third since 2007, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, resting at 8 percent of drivers surveyed. That’s a staggering three-quarters drop since the government organization began conducting roadside surveys in 1973. But, motorists aren’t free of harm—drug use has dramatically increased in drivers. One in four tested positive for marijuana and other illegal drugs, bringing the percentage up to 20% from the previous survey.
