Lawyers of former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn attempted Tuesday to discredit a medical examination report that said Nafissatou Diallo’s injuries were caused by rape. The leaked medical file, from when Diallo went to the hospital after the alleged assault, claims her injuries are caused by “assault” and “rape,” according to the French newspaper L’Express. Diallo has accused Strauss-Kahn, one of the most powerful men in France, of attempting to sexually assault her in the Sofitel hotel, where she worked as a maid, in New York City on May 14. Diallo’s lawyer said the document proves an assault took place, while defense attorneys claim it is “misleading and deceitful” because it is almost entirely Diallo’s account.
