One of Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s biggest backers tells Reuters that the former IMF chief will probably participate in the campaign by helping one of his former rivals get elected. Pierre Moscovici, who now works as campaign coordinator for the Socialist Party’s new favorite, François Hollande, said, “I think he’ll do it. This is a man who has devoted his life to the public domain, whose passion is politics, who is committed to the left. How could he stay out of the supreme confrontation when we have Nicholas Sarkozy in front of us and a categorical imperative to beat him?” However, Socialist Party spokesman Benoit Hamon said that while Strauss-Kahn’s voice could be useful for a campaign, it was not essential, and indicated that the party has not planned a role for him.
