Duke University said it is investigating a noose found in a tree on campus early Wednesday morning. Campus police reportedly spoke to several concerned students but have not commented publicly. The incident occured two weeks after a black female student said white male students chanted a lynching song at her. “To whomever committed this hateful and stupid act, I just want to say that if your intent was to create fear, it will have the opposite effect,” Vice President for Student Affairs Larry Moneta told students in an email.
