DVF's Call of the Wild

Animal Instincts

Diane von Furstenberg stepped out with an inspired, "highly evolved" ready-to-wear fall collection, all "charming vagabond" with endless layering, mixing and matching of feral prints and plenty of faux fur, with an emphasis on—gasp!—real clothes. The fashion empress herself said of the collection: "It's about survival" and that for fall her girl is "a nomad. Everywhere she goes, she fits in." While one notable outfit featured a plaid mohair coat and mini, a ribbed knit turtle neck, and graphic, tribal-print leggings, Women's Wear Daily notes that a few of the earthier pieces, the homespun Navajo jackets in particular, were the brightest spots on the runway.
