Early Voting Offers Dems Hope

Democrats are doing better in early voting than you might expect: In fact, more Democrats have cast ballots than Republicans in several states, including Iowa, Maryland, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Nevada’s Clark County, which is home to two-thirds of the state’s voters. Republicans, meanwhile, have a leg up in early voting in Florida and Colorado. Republicans are still closing in, however: For example, in 2008, Democrats led early votes in Clark County by 22 points; now it’s just eight points. At least 30 percent of the votes this election are expected to be cast early.
