Tuesday’s 5.8 Virginia earthquake didn’t take any lives, but it may ruin some vacations: The Washington Monument will be closed indefinitely after the National Park Service discovered cracks at its top. The National Cathedral also “sustained substantial damage,” according to a statement on its website. Three of its four towers were damaged in the quake. President Obama, meanwhile, could feel the earthquake in Martha’s Vineyard, where he is vacationing: It may have even caused him to miss a putt in golf.
