6.5 magnitude quake rattles Eureka.

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Northern California town of Eureka Saturday afternoon, a disturbance felt all the way from central Oregon in the north, Santa Cruz to the south, and Reno to the east. Though some buildings were evacuated and many citizens headed for high ground for fear of tsunamis, no injuries have been reported as a result of the quake. An estimated 25,000 temporarily lost electricity, and the quake was one of the biggest in recent memory. “It was a monstrous one,” said one Eureka resident. “Usually they’re sharp, but this one was very wiggly. It was rolling in all directions.”
