Finally, Sen. John Edwards has publicly admitted that he is the father of Quinn, the 2-year-old daughter conceived during an extramarital affair with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter. In a written statement to NBC News, he said he would "do everything in my power" to provide his daughter "with the love and support that she deserves." Edwards added that it was "wrong" for him to deny paternity and "to all those I have disappointed and hurt these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry." He also said that he has been offering financial support to Quinn and plans to provide for her in the future. Due to an ongoing federal investigation into whether campaign money was used to cover up the affair, Edwards is not publicly speaking out. Meanwhile, ex-campaign aide Andrew Young, who initially covered for Edwards and is now selling a tell-all, said the senator wanted to "fake the DNA results" and asked him "to steal a diaper from the baby so he could secretly do a DNA test to find out if this [was] indeed his child."
