In the wake of Israel’s raid on a flotilla of aid ships headed for Gaza, Egypt’s supreme court has upheld a ruling to strip citizenship from Egyptian men who have wed Israeli women, if national security is deemed threatened. Children can lose their citizenship, too, and would not be allowed to serve in the country’s military. The interior ministry must consult the cabinet first; the lawyer arguing for the rule said the goal was to prevent a generation that’s "disloyal to Egypt and the Arab world." The decision cannot be appealed.
