Egypt has lifted a travel ban on seven Americans who are on trial for using what the government alleges are illegally obtained funds to stir up unrest in the country. Though there are nine other Americans involved in the case, only the seven who were under the ban remain in Egypt. Egypt’s decision to prohibit travel by the American citizens, all of whom are employed by American pro-democracy organizations, caused the U.S. to threaten to stop aid to the country. The Americans, along with 27 others, stand accused of trying to encourage an uprising against Egypt’s military rulers.
