One of the most famous political prisoners in Egypt’s crisis, Google executive Wael Ghonim, will be freed Monday, according to his family. Ghonim, a key player in Google’s Middle East leadership, quickly emerged as a figurehead in Egypt’s uprising through his savvy use of social media—but vanished more than a week ago. He was presumed arrested by the Mubarak government, but the regime was silent. Finally on Sunday night, according to Ghonim’s brother, Egyptian authorities spoke out. “They told us they’ll probably bring him to us, and that he will likely be escorted by security,” said his brother.
