Crew members on doomed EgyptAir Flight 804 attempted to extinguish a fire on board before the plane crashed into the Mediterranean in May, according to investigators working on the so-called black-box recordings. The devices also revealed that smoke filled a lavatory and the avionics bay during the flight. The cause of the crash, in which all 66 people on board died, is still unknown.
