Welcome back to the Internet, Egypt. Two of the country’s major Web-traffic trackers have reported a spike in Internet activity in Egypt, confirming rumors that service has been restored. Major websites such as the Egyptian stock exchange, the Commercial International Bank of Egypt, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, as well as Facebook and Twitter, are all reported working. The Internet was shut down last week after many of the country’s mass demonstrations were organized online. Meanwhile, a group of hackers known as Anonymous worked Wednesday to try to bring down Egyptian government websites.
