Egypt's Police Shoot 17 Dead

When protesters attack two police stations.

Violence is spiraling out of control in Egypt, and police reinforcement doesn't seem to be helping: On Saturday, police shot and killed 12 people attempting to attack a police station in Biba—and five others who were breaking down station doors in Nasser City, according to witnesses and medical sources. Egypt has been in a state of political turmoil for five days, with regions across the country witnessing looting, arson and vandalism. Determined to cause President Hosni Mubarak to resign from his 30-year-rule, yesterday's protesters defied a government-stated curfew and riots continued throughout the night. Overall, 102 people have died during the protests, according to Agence France-Presse.
