In war, the innocents suffer. A Syrian human rights group says eight premature babies died after authorities cut power to a hospital as part of the brutal and continuing siege on the city of Hama. The infants were dependent on their incubators at the Hourani Hospital, said Rami Abdul-Rahman, president of the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The claim has not been independently verified. The government of President Bashar al-Assad has been under fire for a violent crackdown against anti-government protesters.
