Tesla founder Elon Musk on Saturday sought to counter recent media criticism of him and his company by linking to an article, which turns out to be from a website affiliated with a sex cult. After several mainstream news outlets called him out for his plans to launch a website ranking journalists’ credibility, Musk linked to what he described as an “excellent” analysis piece published by The Knife. The article accused The Washington Post, The New York Times, and other big names in media of sensationalizing Musk’s recent crusade against the media. But as Slate points out, The Knife is a rebranded version of a website staffed by members of the NXIVM cult. Musk deleted his tweet linking to the piece after users pointed out the questionable source.
