Elon Musk mocked Canada’s outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday after Trudeau trashed Donald Trump’s proposal to make Canada part of the United States. In a post on X, Trudeau said there “isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell” that his country would join its southern neighbor. In response, Trump’s so-called “First Buddy” Musk couldn’t resist a dig. “Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say,” Musk wrote in a reply to Trudeau’s post. The tech billionaire’s post made use of an insult that Trump has been throwing at Trudeau—the leader of a key U.S. ally—for weeks, with the president-elect derisively referring to Trudeau as the “governor” of “the Great State of Canada” after his visit to Mar-a-Lago last month. Trump also said he could use “economic force” to make Canada become the 51st U.S. state at a press conference on Tuesday, prompting Trudeau’s defiant public response.
