Emails: Lawyer at Trump Tower Meeting Has Close Ties to Senior Russian Officials

She reportedly received “assistance” from senior Interior Ministry personnel.

The Russian lawyer who met with Trump campaign officials—including Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner—in Trump Tower in June 2016 “worked more closely with Russian government officials than she previously let on,” emails reviewed by the Associated Press reveal. Natalia Veselnitskaya, who said she had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, was reportedly “well-connected” and received “assistance from senior Interior Ministry personnel.” She also was allegedly a ghostwriter for “top Russian government lawyers.” Don Jr. was reportedly aware that Veselnitskaya would be representing the Russian government before he took the meeting. She has denied being a representative for the Russians.
