Emma Stone Is Spider-Man’s Mary Jane

In franchise reboot.

This is shaping up to be a huge blockbuster. Sources have confirmed Deadline Hollywood‘s report that actress Emma Stone will be offered the coveted role of Mary Jane Watson in Sony’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. Andrew Garfield, who is earning raves for his performance as wronged Facebook investor Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network, will step into the shoes previously filled by Tobey Maguire as the webby superhero, and Stone will be assuming the role of his love interest that Kirsten Dunst played in the last three films. Stone, 21, has garnered critical raves for her film Easy A, and has built a reputation as a rising star in Hollywood following performances in last year’s Zombieland and 2007’s Superbad. The film will be directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer).
