Vandals have destroyed a Mississippi landmark commemorating Emmett Till, the black teenager who was lynched in 1955, multiple outlets reported Monday. The historical marker, which contained information about Till's slaying, was the first posting erected along the Mississippi Freedom Trail by state officials in 2011. The marker has been vandalized twice since May, an official said, and all remaining information about Till had been scraped off the landmark by the time tourists visited the site last week.
