England scored the first goal in the highly anticipated World Cup match with the U.S. Saturday. The last time the two played each other in World Cup play was in the 1950 tournament in Brazil, when the Americans scored a 1-0 upset. Meanwhile, the first day of the international competition saw two draws. South Africa tied group-favorite Mexico 1-1, remaining undefeated in opening World Cup matches, with a record of 15-0-5. France and Uruguay also tied, 0-0. Saturday will also see faceoffs between South Korea vs. Greece, and Argentina vs. Nigeria.
